A collaborative project that features calligraphy on fabric
I chose to write in an abstract or asemic writing style on this theatrical costume by textile artist, Lilian Kruip. The long coat resembles a patchwork quilt, made out of synthetic nonwoven material and cotton fabric. Warm ochres and rich browns descend the length of the coat in graduated tones. I worked with acrylic markers to create this wordless, open‑semantic form of writing to accompany the theme, the story of Babel.

J’ai choisi d’écrire dans un style d’écriture asémique ou abstraite sur cette costume théâtrale par Lilian Kruip, artiste en arts textiles. Le manteau long évoque une courtepointe, fait avec du fabrique plastique non‑tissé et du coton. Les riches ocres et les bruns chauds descend le long en dégradés. J’ai travaillé avec les crayons feutres en acrylique pour cette écriture sémantique ouverte qui marche bien avec le thème, l’histoire de Babel.
